FAQ

Questions men actually ask

Straight answers, including the ones other clinics bury.

Is online TRT legal in Utah?
Yes. Utah law holds telehealth care to the same standard as in-person medicine and prohibits diagnosing, treating, or prescribing based solely on an online questionnaire or patient-generated history. Testosterone is a Schedule III controlled substance, so additional federal and state prescribing rules apply. Heimdude requires a live video visit before any first prescription decision, and your clinician reviews or orders labs when clinically indicated.
Do I need an in-person doctor visit?
No. Your evaluation happens online through a health intake and a live video visit with a Utah-licensed clinician in our secure portal. Your clinician reviews existing records or orders labs when clinically indicated.
Is a video visit really required?
Yes, before a first prescription — Heimdude requires every new patient to meet a licensed clinician over live video before a first prescription can be issued through our service. It gives your clinician a real conversation in which to review your health, answer questions, and complete the evaluation. Ongoing care happens through secure telehealth, and most visits use video.
Who actually prescribes my treatment?
A licensed clinician, always. Heimdude uses AI to organize your intake and support your experience, but AI never diagnoses, prescribes, or approves treatment.
How does Heimdude use AI?
AI supports intake and education, organizes information for clinician review, and helps answer navigation questions. You are always told when you are interacting with AI. AI does not diagnose, prescribe, decide eligibility, or approve treatment; every medical decision is made by a licensed clinician. See our AI Use Disclosure for the full boundaries.
Is testosterone a controlled substance?
Yes. Testosterone is a Schedule III controlled substance under federal law, so federal and state prescribing, recordkeeping, and monitoring rules apply. Heimdude also requires clinician evaluation and a live video visit before a first prescription can be issued through our service.
What labs do I need?
Not every patient needs new baseline labs. Your clinician reviews available records and decides whether additional testing is clinically indicated based on your health and potential treatment plan. Ongoing care may include follow-up labs when your clinician recommends them.
What are the risks and side effects of TRT?
TRT can carry risks, including acne, increased red blood cell count (polycythemia), effects on fertility, breast tissue changes, and cardiovascular considerations your clinician will discuss with you. Part of responsible treatment is reviewing these openly and monitoring for them with labs.
Will TRT affect my fertility?
It can. Testosterone therapy suppresses sperm production in most men, sometimes significantly. If current or future fertility matters to you, tell your clinician — it directly affects whether and how treatment should be designed.
How fast will I notice results?
It varies by person and by symptom, and no outcome is guaranteed. Some effects, when they occur, are reported over weeks; others take months. Your clinician will set honest expectations based on your labs and health picture.
What if the clinician decides TRT isn’t right for me?
Then we tell you that clearly, explain why, and discuss alternatives or referrals. TRT is not right for everyone, and a decision not to prescribe is a real clinical outcome, not a failure of the process.
What happens after I get a prescription?
A licensed pharmacy handles fulfillment, and your ongoing care — follow-up labs, dose reviews approved by your clinician, and messaging with your care team — runs through your patient portal.
Is my health information private?
Your care happens in a secure patient portal, and your health information is handled under HIPAA. This marketing site itself does not collect health information.
