FAQ
Questions men actually ask
Straight answers, including the ones other clinics bury.
- Is online TRT legal in Utah?
- Yes. Utah law allows telehealth care held to the same standard as in-person medicine, and federal rules currently allow testosterone to be prescribed through telehealth after a live audio-video visit with a licensed clinician. Utah law prohibits prescribing based solely on an online questionnaire — which is why Heimdude requires labs and a real video visit before any prescription decision.
- Do I need an in-person doctor visit?
- No. Your evaluation happens online: an intake questionnaire, local lab work, and a live video visit with a Utah-licensed clinician through our secure portal.
- Is a video visit really required?
- Yes — every new patient meets a licensed clinician over live video before a first prescription can be issued. It is required by federal controlled-substance rules for telehealth, and it is also simply good medicine.
- Who actually prescribes my treatment?
- A licensed clinician, always. Heimdude uses AI to organize your intake and support your experience, but AI never diagnoses, prescribes, or approves treatment.
- How does Heimdude use AI?
- AI guides intake and education, organizes your records for clinician review, and answers navigation questions 24/7. You are always told when you are interacting with AI, and every medical decision is made by a licensed clinician. See our AI Use Disclosure for the full boundaries.
- Is testosterone a controlled substance?
- Yes. Testosterone is a Schedule III controlled substance under federal law. That means real requirements: clinician evaluation, a live video visit before a first telehealth prescription, and prescription tracking under Utah’s controlled substance rules.
- What labs do I need?
- Baseline bloodwork typically includes total testosterone and related hormone and safety markers. Your clinician reviews the full picture — not just one number — and repeats labs on a monitoring schedule during treatment.
- What are the risks and side effects of TRT?
- TRT can carry risks, including acne, increased red blood cell count (polycythemia), effects on fertility, breast tissue changes, and cardiovascular considerations your clinician will discuss with you. Part of responsible treatment is reviewing these openly and monitoring for them with labs.
- Will TRT affect my fertility?
- It can. Testosterone therapy suppresses sperm production in most men, sometimes significantly. If current or future fertility matters to you, tell your clinician — it directly affects whether and how treatment should be designed.
- How fast will I notice results?
- It varies by person and by symptom, and no outcome is guaranteed. Some effects, when they occur, are reported over weeks; others take months. Your clinician will set honest expectations based on your labs and health picture.
- What if the clinician decides TRT isn’t right for me?
- Then we tell you that clearly, explain why, and discuss alternatives or referrals. TRT is not right for everyone, and a decision not to prescribe is a real clinical outcome, not a failure of the process.
- What happens after I get a prescription?
- A licensed pharmacy handles fulfillment, and your ongoing care — follow-up labs, dose reviews approved by your clinician, and messaging with your care team — runs through your patient portal.
- Is my health information private?
- Your care happens in a secure patient portal, and your health information is handled under HIPAA. This marketing site itself does not collect health information.
- Where is Heimdude available?
- Heimdude currently serves Utah residents. We plan to expand as licensure allows.
